Start The New Year Off Right

January 1st is always a time for new beginnings, new goals, and a time to reflect on what is important in life.  As we move into the new year, here are a few things I like to do. I hope you can put these into action, and that they help set you up for success and happiness in your life, leadership and business in 2023.

  • Think back and review your past year.  What have you accomplished?  What goals did you set and attain?  What big milestones did you achieve?  Take time and review these things as it related to all domains of your life.
  • After reflection, a great thing to do, and space to put yourself in, is appreciation.  As you reflect on your accomplishments and milestones, take some time to appreciate how these things have made your life better.  Appreciate how you arrived to where you did.  Appreciate those who helped, supported, and contributed to you along the way.
  • What struggles and challenges did you encounter last year?  Did they take you off track from your goals?  Did they create friction? How did you approach and overcome these challenges?  It is quite possible that as you reflected, you encountered challenges, and what you did overcome them.  You may have encountered challenges that you are still struggling to overcome.
  • It is always important to take accountability.  Accountability for your wins, losses, challenges, and everything in between.  As you begin to dig into your vision and new goals for this year, it is important that you are 100% accountable for where you currently stand.
  • It is always important to vision what your life, your business, your family and other areas of your life look like in the future. This gives you a good idea of the goals and milestones you need to set and accomplish to get there.  It is always good to revisit your vision, explore and recast it, and make it known by writing it down.
  • New Goals. As you cast and revisit your vision, what specific goals come from that? Write them down.  Ensure you have goals in all domains of your life.  Faith, family, finances, health, business, friendships, hobbies, etc.  Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, actionable, and attainable, and have a time frame on them to hit and accomplish.
  • Once you have reflected, appreciated, explored, visioned and set new goals, it is time to get to work.  Set and schedule an action plan that will lead to you accomplishing your goals.  Remember, consistency and frequency of action will drive you closer and closer to where you desire to be.

Wishing you, your family, and your business an amazing 2023!
